Project 2: Noun Booklet
This project was based on an assigned noun (HAND) and involved analogue and digital components. I used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for this project as well as the site Hayzine. The colors used for this project were PMS 123 and PMS 419.
I focused on two different avenues in this project - communication and utility. I explored the ways hands accomplish a variety of tasks and contrasted this with the ways we use hands to communicate messages to others. The infold is made using an image of yarn and an image of woven fabric to symbolize that humans are brought together in large part by the works of our hands or the messages we share with them.
My original images can be found on my Dropmark here.
Hero Shot of completed booklet. The cover is hand-drawn then a scanned version was altered using digital text.
The original mind map was created as a method to direct the project.

Color Exploration using the original image, PMS 311, and PMS 123.
In process shot of binding the booklet. I cut my images using a stainless steel ruler, cutting mat, and X-acto knife. The booklet was assembled by hand and bound using staples along the spine.
The infold is comprised of two images which unify the project. The loose yarn refers to potential and the woven fabric is a finished product created from the materials. I wanted to show the limitless opportunities our hands have, whether it be their utility or relational capacities.
